Choosing what type of safari you wish to take is an important decision that should not be taken lightly. A journey to Africa is a once in a lifetime trip and you should spend your time on this amazing continent doing exactly what interests you in the environment and accommodation you prefer.  

When chosing a safari circuit it is important to factor in your budget, timeframe and your particular interests. To make it easy for you, we have put up some sample Safaris  to guide you to the right direction.  Please remember that unlike most operators all our safaris are tailor made so we are able to make any changes you would like to the itinerary without the extra costs associated with tailor made travel. As we are here and you are dealing directly with the us, we are able to pass those savings on to our clients. An extra day in the Mara, bird watching in Naivasha or maybe you wish to spend an extra few days in Nairobi?  When you contact us we will work with you to design a safari that perfect matches your interests and will guide you in the right direction.  In order to help you make a choice we have divided our safaris by country and interest and then into three categories to chose from:

Luxury Safaris:
Luxury safaris are the top of the range featuring luxury camps built in harmony with the landscape yet offering an unparalleled degree of pampering and luxury during your safari. These lodges or tented camps are boutique hotels in their own right and are perfect for those who wish to experience the magic of Africa with the ultimate in comfort and pampering. Do not be surprised to see crystal chandeliers under your dining tent, have a spa massage  and be served in your tent by your private butler. This is an option we recommend when you have the budget for it, you are here to celebrate a special occasion like a honeymoon or anniversary or if you are a person that enjoys world class architecture and interiors in a most unusual setting. 

Classic Safaris:
Our Classic safaris always feature excellent accommodation of superior standards. The East African tradition of hospitality is perfectly shown in the hotel standards you will encounter.  You will find that accommodation at this level is the equivalent of  a 4 star hotel with en- suite bathrooms, great dining experiences and lodges or tented camps built in sympathy with the local environment.  This is a great alternative if your main interest is seeing the wildlife and having a safari experience but at the same time you want the comforts of en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds and the attractions and amenities of a lodge or tented camp of this standard.

Adventure Safaris:
What we consider advernture safaris would for most campers be considered luxury! Although you sleep in tents, you have the luxury of camp assistants, cooks who ensure that your safari is completely ready.  You will have all meals cooked, the tents set up for you and while you are expected to help a little, most of the work is done for you.  Transport is in overland trucks or safari buses kitted with all the gear you need. You will camp on campsites in the game reserves which are protected by Maasais, and often Electric fence. For those of you who are young or young at heart this is a fantastic way to experience the  magic of African bush·dust and all!

Ordet safari är Swahili, och betyder ungefär "färd". Och färdas är vad man gör, i naturen och bland vilda djur. Idag innebär färden inte mödosamma vandringar, utan man tar sig fram bekvämt i terränggående fordon som körs av specialutbildad chaufförer som skickligt letar upp sevärdheterna och väljer bästa vägen fram till scenen som väntar bortom kullens krön eller bakom horisontens buskage. Exakt vad som väntar vet man inte - vilket är charmen med safari – men något storslaget spännande eller vackert är det alltid.

En safaritur kanske bjuder på samtliga "Big Five", men säkert är att Du får uppleva de som jagar liksom de jagade. Rovdjur, gräsätare. Elefanter, noshörningar, giraffer betande i taggiga akaciors lövverk. Vårtsvin, flodhästar, bufflar, graciösa gaseller. Schakaler, praktfulla fåglar.

Din guide vet att läsa naturen. Upptäcker kretsande gamar och tar Dig dit något nyss har hänt. Vill Du undvika dammiga och långa transportsträckor så erbjuder vi givetvis safaris med flyg. Dina önskemål och ekonomiska ramar bestämmer!

Safariresenären övernattar på naturskönt belägna komfortabla vildmarkshotell ("lodge") eller traktens lika vackert belägna och mysiga tältanläggning. Oavsett vad som erbjuds i övernattningsväg så är komforten och äventyrsfaktorn hög, för här kan man konsten att kombinera naturens drama med människans behov av skönhet och trygghet. Ekologiskt tänkande är inte teori, utan urgammal praktik i dessa landskap.

En familjesafari är - precis som det låter - en reseupplevelse för hela familjen. Mor - eller farföräldrar som tillsammans med barn och barnbarn unnar sig ett lagom spännande äventyr som den yngre och yngsta generationen kommer att minnas för alltid. Tanken att istället för pengar lämna outplånliga minnen efter sig började uppstå i England och USA för ett tiotal år sedan, och idag har efterfrågan på resor med seniorer och juniorer på gemensam upptäcktsfärd i världens vackraste och mest intressanta naturreservat tagit ordentlig fart. Vi på The African Safari Company har haft glädjen att även få välkomna en och annan familjeresa från Sverige, och vi skulle önska att många fler finge uppleva Östafrika och en resa som skapar respekt för både djuren, naturen och männsiskorna som är satta att vårda detta.
